A fungi-focused community education group organized by mycologist Aaron Tupac, Exploring the Mycoverse meets to intentionally cultivate community and discuss how fungi can remind us of our interconnectedness. It is a values-based community inspired by fungi working together to learn how to be in better relationship with the more-than-human world. Each workshop is unique with a dedicated topic, and approaches to exploration have included guest speakers, book discussions, the Fungi Film Festival, and more.  All events are free and open to the public - you are always welcome to join! Founded by mycologist Aaron Tupac in July 2021, Mycoverse has hosted over 100 workshops, reaching more than 1,000 people. The Mycoverse usually meets twice a month on alternating Mondays, in the Olive Allée at Arlington Garden.

Drop in anytime between 11:30am and 2:30pm on October 3 to contribute to Watershed,, a large-scale community artwork conceived by Pasadena-based artist Kate Lain, who was awarded an Individual Artist Grant through the City of Pasadena Arts and Culture Commission in Summer 2026. At this drop-in art-making session, you’ll use the analog cyanotype process to create designs and images on pieces of fabric that will later be sewn together into the large final community artwork - a 50-foot textile stream that will be installed in Arlington Garden in Spring 2027. The project's title, Watershed, is in homage to Eaton Canyon. It references both an area of land that channels water to a common outlet and also refers to a turning point, a significant moment or dividing point.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a small meaningful object to create an imprint to leave behind using the cyanotype process. Community members impacted by the Eaton Fire are especially invited to participate. Objects you may use to create a cyanotype might include something that has brought you comfort since the fire or something that survived the fire. Or it might be something else. It’s entirely up to you. (Note that you won’t be leaving your object behind, you’ll be taking it home with you once you use it to make your cyanotype!)

This is the part of a series of free outdoor art-making events with artist Kate Lain in Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 which will contribute to the collaborative creation of Watershed, a post-wildfire community art project grounded in the idea that creating art in community with one another and with the environment can be healing.

Returning on monthly Saturdays, Arlington Garden welcomes back our friends from Artemisia Nursery for their free Seedy series! Led by native plant nerd Antonio Sanchez, learn the ins and outs of growing California native plants from seeds, cuttings, and more. Expect to work with White Sage, Monkeyflower, Hummingbird Sage and many more fun and local native plants. This class is focused on teaching folks from our local communities about growing local plants, with the hopes of getting more low-cost native plants out into local gardens. Everyone registered gets to take some seed, cuttings, soil, pots, etc. home, depending on what is worked on that week. The class is taught in English with Spanish available - just let us know when you arrive! For the October edition, we are celebrating California Clean Air Day.

Resonance: A Yoga & Sound Journey is a practice led by Pasadena-raised yoga teacher (and musician) Qur’an Shaheed with a guest musician on second Sundays of each month at Arlington Garden. The late morning/early afternoon session blends movement, breath, and live music outdoors to deepen the mind-body-nature connection. This immersive experience weaves together flowing asana, guided breathwork, and intuitive soundscapes, creating space for inner alignment and self-discovery. Rooted in both stillness and rhythm, each session invites you to tune in, release, and move in harmony with the present moment. Each month features a different musical collaborator.  Participation in yoga is optional, and if you just want to lay underneath the trees and listen that’s absolutely encouraged!   These limited capacity monthly classes are now free of charge thanks to a grant from the California Community Foundation.  Please register in advance for each month on the Living Earth website.

At this free 2.5-hour small workshop, Pasadena artist Kate Lain will more deeply introduce participants to the history and basics of how to create a cyanotype, an analog photographic process that uses sunlight and water to typically results in blue-and-white images. Together, we’ll practice making cyanotypes on fabric and paper, as well as explore bleaching and toning as ways to alter the blue-and-white images The cyanotype instruction and making will be preceded by a short talk about Arlington Garden’s recent water capture and remediation projects.

You will create a paper cyanotype to take home and work on fabric elements that will be part of the larger Watershed artwork, a 50 foot textile stream that will be hosted at Arlington Garden in Spring 2027

We especially welcome community members impacted by the Eaton Fire.
